Kieran has set his goals high and quite rightly so. The Olympic dream is only three years away and already the diary is starting to fill up with the critically important trials and competitions from which the selectors make their observations and final judgement.
Currently representing the Basingstoke and Mid Hants Athletic Club, Kieran is delivering outstanding times in both 100m and 200m. At 10.6 seconds over 100m, Kieran goes down in the history books as Britain's ninth fastest athlete ever at the age of 16. His time over 200m puts him third fastest this country has ever produced. Truly amazing facts and figures which should stand him well in the eyes of the Olympic selection team.
Kieran's dream isn't just about representing his country - it's about his family who have been wholly supportive at every stage of his life. Sadly Kieran's Grandmother, Rose Showler, who cheered him on at every event passed away a few years ago. In honour of her, he now uses 'Showler' as his racing name and for sure Grannie Showler will be in Kieran's heart when he fights for his place in 2012.
Before the London 2012 Olympics Kieran is preparing himself for the World Junior Championships in July 2010 held in Canada, and the Commonwealth Games in 2010 held in Delhi.
Neil McFarlane of T.H. March comments "We've known Kieran for most of his life and are extremely proud and excited about supporting him in the future. He's an outstanding young talent and an inspiration to all of us at T.H. March".
Kieran has promised to keep us informed of his progress and in future issues of the Jewellers Quarter and through our website, you can follow that journey with us to his Olympic Goldrush!
