TaviFest 2018: Live Music & Family Fun Day for Pancreatic Cancer

Tavifest 2018 will shortly be upon us and we are proud to be supporting it.

Our very own Jean Keast (who works in our IT Department) has been instrumental in the organisation of the event to help raise money and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer Action, a cause very close to her heart following the loss of her brother to the disease.

Jean said,

“TaviFest is an all-day music festival for Pancreatic Cancer Action. All the organisers of TaviFest have been affected by pancreatic cancer, which is the UK’s fifth biggest cancer killer. With the rise in obesity and diabetes, it is set to become one of the biggest cancer killers. It has the lowest survival rate of all the major cancers of just 4%, many die within a few weeks as there is little awareness of the symptoms and diagnosis is often too late. Put this in perspective, if 500 turn up at TaviFest and are all diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, there will be around 20 left after 12 months. Of that 20 around 2 or 3 will still be alive after 10 years. So we need to raise awareness and much needed funds for research, and what
better way than with music!

We want everyone to come and have a good time and we have lined up some fantastic artists, Neil Diamond Tribute (Michael Douglas) and 9 Yards will be playing some rock favourites. ‘Just Gary Barlow’ will be headlining with Take That and Gary Barlow hits.

There will be blues from Russell Sinclair, as well as performances from Jake Hurle, Lorraine Live, Kerry Gray, Note-Ability and The Treaty. There will also be lots of family fun with a fairground, a bouncy castle, face-painting and a fancy-dress competition (Ages 5 –10 and 11 – 16 with a theme of Purple). Our volunteers will be selling raffle tickets, and we have some wonderful prizes lined up. Refreshments will be available throughout the festival with a bar from Dartmoor Brewery, alcohol free drinks and cocktails from HQ. A selection of hot and cold food options, including a special TaviFest pasty from Ellis’s Bakery, burgers from The Hunger Box, Pizzas from The Firefly, Hog Roast from Downings Butchers and much more.”

Reach for the Stars with an Apprenticeship

An apprenticeship in insurance and accounts helped Holly Baird to become a ‘Rising Star’ – somewhat surprisingly in the jewellery trade! Nineteen-year-old Holly Baird, who successfully completed an apprenticeship and […]
