Hay Fever Season Has Arrived

Use these Top Tips to Prevent Spreading Symptoms

As temperatures begin to rise, grass grows in strands of vibrant green and flowers emerge in full bloom, yet this seemingly picture-perfect season debuts alongside the arrival of hay fever symptoms. That’s right-springtime introduces increased pollen counts and warmer days, which combine to create a sickly atmosphere for hay fever sufferers. Common symptoms can include the following:

  • Sneezing and coughing
  • Itchy or irritated eyes, nose and throat
  • Headaches and earaches
  • Increased feelings of tiredness or exhaustion

Don’t let your hay fever symptoms destroy your ability to enjoy springtime. Use these tips to stay healthy during high pollen counts:

  • Limit your time outdoors. While outside, avoid cutting or walking on grass. When you come inside, be sure to change your clothes and take a shower to wash the pollen off your body.
  • Stop pollen from spreading. Make sure pollen doesn’t travel indoors by keeping windows and doors shut as much as possible, drying clothes inside rather than outside and cleaning your home (eg dusting and vacuuming) regularly.
  • Invest in a filter. Consider purchasing a pollen filter to use on the air vents in your car, as well as a vacuum with a pollen filter feature.
