As June arrives, gardens can start reaching their full potential. Whether it be for aesthetic pleasure while working from home or impressing guests during an outdoor gathering, a beautiful garden can be an excellent addition to your summer. In order to properly prepare, consider the following gardening tips:
- Monitor the weather—Temperatures during the night can still dip to the point that certain plants and crops may be threatened. Moving certain plants outside during the day and then back in at night can help them adjust to conditions.
- Add support—Climbing plants will begin to grow more rapidly at this time of year. With that in mind, consider adding extra supports, such as a trellis or pergola.
- Remember the Chelsea crop—This method involves pruning plants in order to limit their size and decrease herbaceous perennials. Doing this can create bushier plants that flower for a longer time period.
- Reuse rainwater—Gardens need water, but this resource is limited and can be costly. Consider ways to make water usage more efficient, such as by collecting rainwater or using grey water for your garden.
