Our commitment to the physical, mental health and wellbeing of employees led to us establishing a Wellbeing Committee that consists of Wellbeing Champion volunteers from each branch across the Company.
TH March Group provides this internal network to help promote a workplace that encourages health, happiness, and fulfilment. This creates an environment for our colleagues and the business to be at their best.
A Wellbeing Champion is someone who, with training and support, voluntarily brings their ability to relate to people and their own life experience to transform health and well-being in their workplaces. They motivate people to get involved in healthy social activities and signpost people to other relevant projects or services and organised events.
The Wellbeing Committee, established in 2018, develop and run a range of promotion initiatives designed to raise awareness of health and lifestyle issues affecting mental health and wellbeing. All employees are encouraged to participate, and these activities are evaluated to determine their effectiveness.
TH March has recently achieved Bronze status within the Wellbeing at Work Award programme and receiving recognition for its work to improve the health and wellbeing of its staff.
The Wellbeing Committee have enhanced employee support and wellbeing through several initiatives. To date, these have included:
Whilst Legislation for MHFA provision in the workplace is not yet in place, TH March Group wants to demonstrate that our organisation views mental health as equally important to physical health and create and nurture an open and supportive culture around mental health.
An effective, sustainable approach to employee wellbeing involves the whole organisation and should be backed up with policies and procedures alongside specific training. Therefore, we have a team of 19 dedicated Mental Health First Aiders to help TH March staff deal with whatever challenges lie ahead. 14% of our workforce companywide have received formal training.
The fully qualified Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) have been trained by MHFA England to notice signs of mental ill health. They have been taught how to listen in a non-judgemental way and break down barriers for people who are struggling with a range of different issues. They can then signpost colleagues to the right support at the right time and our employees can feel fully supported.
Having this dedicated team of Mental Health First Aiders, as well as our Employee Assistance Programmes available to all TH March staff, means we can continue to work together through whatever challenges we meet.
We are proud to announce that TH March Group have signed the Mindful Employer Charter for Employers Positive about Mental Health.
