Specialist insurance broker, TH March, has just been named as one of the best insurance employers and places to work in the country.
A nationwide survey by Insurance Business UK (IBUK) asked staff in the industry to rate their employers’ performance, based on everything from compensation and benefits to diversity, employee development and culture.
TH March achieved an 80 per cent or greater average satisfaction rating, making it a Top Insurance Employer.
Jo Morgan, Associate Director HR at TH March, said it was a fantastic result. “Happy employees are at the core of a successful company,” she said.
“Our success depends on attracting and retaining quality people who help us find solutions to every customer’s needs. To be recognised in this way is a real tribute to the investment we put in to making sure our employees are listened to and understood.”
The process to become a Top Insurance Employer involves two phases, including an anonymous survey of 38 questions about what people look for when choosing employment.
Staff were asked to rate each attribute from 1 to 5, with 1 being poor and 5 being excellent. Insurance Business UK then calculated the average response. The overall score for TH March was 4.18 out of 5. Just six firms made the final list and TH March was one of just four firms in its category of 101 to 500 employees.
Jo Morgan thanked staff for taking part in the process. “It’s been a challenging time for everyone, so the fact that so many of our team members have taken the time to complete the IBUK survey means a great deal,” she said. “We’re very grateful to have had such a positive response.”
This year’s IBUK Top Insurance Employer process paid particular attention to the resilience and adaptability companies showed during and after the pandemic.
TH March introduced a series of measures to ensure staff felt safe and connected during lockdown, while hybrid and flexible working practices have remained in place.
There are more than 80 varied working patterns at the firm and 25 per cent of employees are part time.
In addition, TH March has its own wellbeing committee, made up of volunteers from across the company who raise awareness on issues, such as work-life balance.
A team of fully trained Mental Health First Aiders are also on hand and there are various Employee Assistance Programmes.
TH March celebrates its 135th anniversary year in 2022. The firm recently published its Vision, Mission and Values, showing its commitment to putting its customers first and embracing new ways of working.
