Please introduce yourself and what office of THM you work at.

  • My name is Jess and I work at the Yelverton Office.

What had made you decide to do an apprenticeship?

  • When I finished my degree, I wanted to work in the arts, in a gallery type setting. I was struggling to get a job in this sector because I didn’t have administration or office work experience. My younger sister’s school was doing an apprenticeship day, and TH March were attending. I thought the Business and Admin Level 2 Apprenticeship would give me the additional experience and skills I needed to get me into the industry I wanted to work in.

How did this help you get your career started?

  • Since I started at TH March, I haven’t really looked back – the apprenticeship was a year long and I will have worked here four years in August 2022. The time has flown and I actually found that I really enjoy the academic side of the job – I have gone on to complete my Cert CII and my Dip CII and enjoy the progression and rewards the job brings me. I started in the March Plus department as an account handler, moved to the Admin department where I gained my lower and then higher underwriting. I feel that my apprenticeship helped me get a foot in the door so to speak, and I have gained a lot from it to be where I am now.

What is your job now?

  • In November 2020 I moved to the Household department as an account handler, and gained my Level 1 underwriting last year.

What do you like about your current job?

  • I enjoy the variety that every day brings in the Household department and love my team – we have a strong work ethic and all work hard to help each other and our clients.
