TH March Shortlisted for Training Award

TH March has been shortlisted in the UK Broker Awards 2020. As finalists under the category of Training, it recognises the investment they have made in nurturing and maintaining the technical and people skills of their staff.

To secure a place on the shortlist, TH March beat off competition from leading insurance brokers across the country. The winners will be announced at a virtual ceremony in September.

The shortlisting for the UK Broker Award is a rigorous process involving a panel of judges looking for a company that can demonstrate a combination of one or all of the following:

  • Investment in new recruits to the industry through apprentice programmes
  • How a programme of career development training has played an integral role within the business, contributing to its success
  • Approaches to ensuring skills and succession plans are delivered leading to internal promotions at management, boardroom and ownership levels.

Jo Morgan, Associate Director, HR said “Being shortlisted for the UK Broker Awards Training Award is a testament to how training is embedded in our culture.

TH March has been running an Apprenticeship Scheme since 2006 and has had 25 apprentices join the team over the course of the 14 years. We are very pleased that 12 of these recruits are still TH March employees to this day and they work in a variety of departments”.

In addition to the Apprenticeship Scheme, customer facing new joiners complete the Cert CII qualification within a 12-month period. This is fully sponsored by TH March with study text, revision days and exams all financially supported.”

Being Corporate Chartered Brokers, training and competency are high on TH March’s continued commitment to encouraging, sponsoring and supporting staff with a comprehensive education & training scheme. TH March sponsorship and support is not limited to insurance qualifications, for example functions such as Finance and HR have benefited from the generous education and training package.

Jo added “We believe that each employee contributes directly to our growth and success. We could not accomplish what we do every day without our employees and this is the ethos behind the investment in our staff.”

Neil McFarlane Group CEO, who himself is a Chartered Insurance Broker, comments “I have always firmly believed that having qualified, knowledgeable and proficient staff leads to better advice and service to clients. At the end of the day we are all here to provide a professional service to our clients. Qualifications are not the only component of this, but they are a good indicator of the ethos and culture of the company in providing outstanding advice, service and better customer outcomes”.
