We want to bring your attention to a critical development in the market that may impact over 100,000 businesses and private customers.

BT has announced the withdrawal of their Redcare alarm signalling service effective from 1 August 2025.

AddSecurewill step in as a partner to take on the responsibility of managing customer relationships with alarm receiving centres currently using BT Redcare’s Next Generation portfolio of alarm signalling devices. This collaboration with AddSecure will continue support for BT Redcare Next Generation fire and security alarm signalling services in the UK.

This decision necessitates affected customers to find alternative solutions promptly. As an insurance broker, we understand the importance of alarm systems to your insurance coverage. BT Redcare customers should have received an “Important Notice” through first-class post and email, informing them of the impending closure and crucial details about the transition process.

To assist you through this transition, we have some essential information to share:

Withdrawal Date

  • BT’s Redcare service will cease operations from 1 August 2025

Alternative Solutions

There are a limited number of potential alternative suppliers.  Some insurers will accept signalling products such as:

  • AddSecure DP3
  • CSL Dualcom Gradeshift Pro DP3
  • or any dual-path Alarm Transmission System with DP3 certification to BSEN50136-1:2012 as a like-for-like replacement

Installation and Maintenance

  • We strongly advise acting quickly, as the demand for alternative solutions may lead to installation bottlenecks and product shortages closer to the withdrawal date
  • Ensure that the replacement service you choose is installed and maintained by companies regulated by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) or the Security Systems and Alarm Inspection Board (SSAIB)

Key Requirements

  • Installed by an NSI or SSAIB regulated company
  • Maintained under an annual contract with an NSI or SSAIB regulated alarm maintenance company or installer
  • Evidence of the maintenance agreement may be required in the event of a claim

If you have any doubts about your alarm signalling system, please contact your account manager.

The transition away from Redcare is a significant change, and we are here to support you through this process. Further information can be found direct on the BT Redcare website: https://www.redcare.bt.com/
