Achieving excellence by supporting staff to study and gain professional qualifications has always been a priority for Chartered Insurance Brokers TH March. In fact, the company (well known for specialising in insurance for the UK jewellery trade and its customers), has a very long tradition of ‘growing its own’ experts.
HR Manager Jo Morgan explains: “We believe that well-trained staff translates into really great service for our customers and happy, fulfilled employees who want their careers to develop and grow. We are proud of the fact that staff actively choose to stay with this company for many years, many enjoying very long careers.”
Last week that commitment to professional training and staff development paid off when two TH March employees walked off with prestigious awards at the Plymouth & Cornwall Chartered Insurance Institute’s annual black-tie dinner.
At the event, which was held at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel, TH March’s Charlotte Allan who works as a Claims Handler won the 2019 Young Achiever Award whilst her colleague, Joanna Hammett won the 2019 Achiever of the Year award.
23 year old Charlotte first joined THM in 2013 as an apprentice in the Personal Insurances Team. She progressed quickly through her apprenticeship and went on to study for the Certificate in Insurance qualification. Charlotte subsequently transferred into the company’s in-house Claims Team in 2015 and is now studying hard for the CII’s Diploma in Insurance qualification.
Achiever of the Year Award winner and Personal Insurances Team Leader Joanna Hammett has been with TH March for 9 years but has a career spanning 24 years within the insurance industry. She was nominated for her award in recognition of the amount of volunteer mentoring she does with colleagues in her own time in order to support them through insurance exams. She runs in-house study sessions with staff during her lunch break.
The company’s Compliance Manager Peter Goodman also achieved recognition for achieving his ACII qualification.
Steven Clemence who is the President of the Plymouth & Cornwall CII said: “These awards are significant in the insurance industry as they recognise the efforts of high achieving individuals who have demonstrated exceptional performance, achievement and attitude in all aspects of their professional life”.
